IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ADHD APPOINTMENTS WITH DR RUTH CAMPBELL

18th August 2026

Some of you may have seen the recent announcement from the WA Government that Dr Ruth Campbell is one of 64 GPs across Western Australia who have completed additional specialist training to diagnose and manage ADHD, including prescribing certain ADHD medications.

There are currently only three GPs across the South West: Two in Bunbury and one in Busselton, who have completed this additional training.

The South West also has one of the highest rates of ADHD medication prescribing in Australia, highlighting the significant demand for ADHD assessment and treatment in our region.

We only commenced offering ADHD appointments at Health by Nurture last week, and we have already been inundated with enquiries. As a result, we currently have an extensive waitlist, with estimated wait times of up to three months, which may increase as demand for appointments continues.

At this stage, ADHD appointments with Dr Campbell are being offered on two Mondays per month only, meaning appointment availability is extremely limited.

Many of your frequently asked questions are answered below.

WAITLIST FOR APPOINTMENTS

If you would like to be considered for an ADHD appointment with Dr Campbell, please complete the Expression of Interest form below.

Once our Reception team has responded to your enquiry (within 2 business days), this will confirm that you have been added to the ADHD waitlist.

As more appointments become available, our Reception team will contact patients on the waitlist and provide information regarding appointment fees, requirements and the next steps.

Please be aware that wait times may change as demand continues and appointment availability remains limited. Being added to the waitlist does not guarantee an appointment within a specific timeframe.

ADHD EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FORM

ADHD APPOINTMENTS CANNOT BE BOOKED ONLINE

Please note that ADHD appointments cannot be booked online.

Patients wishing to enquire about an ADHD assessment must complete the Expression of Interest form and be added to the ADHD waitlist.

If an ADHD assessment is booked online as a standard appointment, the appointment will not be able to proceed. ADHD assessments require background information and preparation to be completed before the appointment, so booking a standard appointment online does not allow our team to complete the necessary steps beforehand.

We appreciate your understanding that all ADHD appointments must go through the appropriate waitlist and booking process.

PLEASE BE KIND AND PATIENT WITH OUR RECEPTION TEAM

We sincerely appreciate your patience while our Reception team manages the high volume of enquiries and requests.

This is a brand-new type of consultation for our clinic, and we know there is a lot of interest in accessing ADHD care closer to home.

Please be kind and patient with our Reception team. We are people too, and all doing the best we can to help, answer your questions and work through the high volume of enquiries as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work through the waitlist and establish this new service.

ADHD PATIENT NUMBERS

For full transparency, the WA GPs commencing ADHD services are subject to an initial limit of 50 primary ADHD patients for whom they diagnose, initiate or manage treatment.

This forms part of the current framework supporting the expansion of ADHD care in Western Australia.

We understand there is a significant need for ADHD assessment and treatment, particularly across the South West, and we are committed to providing this service as safely and sustainably as possible, while working within all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

A NOTE FOR DR CAMPBELL’S EXISTING LONG-TERM PATIENT BASE

To Dr Campbell’s longstanding regular patients, please be assured that the introduction of ADHD appointments will not make her regular appointment wait times any longer than they currently are.

ADHD appointments are being offered on two Mondays per month only, with the other days of the week continuing to be available for Dr Campbell to see her regular patients. These are additional days that Dr Campbell has chosen to add to her schedule.

We understand that many of Dr Campbell’s existing patients rely on being able to access their usual appointments, and this new service has been structured specifically to minimise the impact on her existing long-term patient base.

Dr Campbell’s regular patients remain a priority, and her usual availability throughout the week will continue as normal.
